As always, we ask God to bless our efforts and let this new school year be the start of exciting adventures, learning and blessings for of our children, our school, our teachers and assistants.
April 2009
The school celebrated beach day on Friday February 27th. The children, (and teachers), came dressed for the beach. Rooms were decorated and we had a fun day at our "beach".The children are busy making Easter Baskets and preparing for Easter by learning about the Easter Story. Our Easter celebration and Easter egg hunt will take place on April 7th and 8th
We hid our special word "Alleluia" for the Lenten season and the children looked forward to bringing it back at Easter. They were excited to learn the true meaning of Easter... "Jesus Lives".
There are still a few openings for September 2009 enrollment. Please tell or remind your friends to contact our Director Janet Gottschalk at 516-520-4067 for further information.
February 2009
Love is in the air! For many of us it is a month when we send a special card to someone we love or make a special phone call and go out and celebrate. This month at Calvary Nursery school we will be teaching about sharing, caring and love. We teach about our love for Jesus and His love for us! We teach about our love of country and celebrate two of our President's birthdays along with learning the "Pledge of Allegiance." We will also make mailboxes for Valentine's Day so the children can exchange cards. It is a beautiful to see how friendships develop by sharing and caring at this young age. It is an age when we are taught love…we know love and pass it on!

We start the New Year with much to look forward to and with so much to be thankful for!The Christmas Pageant "The Friendly Beasts" was a huge success with our wonderful little actors & actresses. They put smiles on everyone's faces.
The children were very busy making Christmas decorations & learning the story of the baby Jesus. Santa made his annual visit and they were wide-eyed with delight! There was a lot of Christmas cheer and good wishes all around!

Prayerfully consider enrolling your children or grandchildren in our Nursery school or Mommy & Me classes. Let your friends with 2, 3, or 4 year old children know what a loving family we have here at Calvary Lutheran Church & Nursery School. Invite them to visit our school & enroll their children in a safe, Christian learning environment.
December 2008
As the year comes to a close, it is time to do much celebrating. We begin by rejoicing with Madge Hanover who on November 23rd received the CHRISTIAN CRUSADER AWARD. She has been a true blessing to our school in past years and continues to share her Christian love with our present students and staff. The "Sharing God's Blessings" gathering was a wonderful success with the children preparing the food and then sharing what they made with their classmates and parents. They also brought in food to "share" for the Food Pantry Ministry. We have much to give thanks for!
The children are learning so much about the upcoming Christmas season. Our little actors & actresses are busy getting ready to perform "The Friendly Beasts" for this year's Christmas Pageant. It will be held on Monday, Dec 15th & Tuesday Dec 16th during class time.
We will be celebrating St. Nicholas Day early in December during Friday chapel. Santa will visit to tell stories & party with us later in the month on Dec. 17th & 18th. All the children are very excited, and looking forward to his arrival!
As you can see, our children are having fun while they are learning. So as we reflect back and look forward to the day our Savior was born, ask your child what it means to them & share the story with them. It will be a wonderful blessed experience for all of you. Children love to hear stories and this story is especially beautiful & significant.
Merry Christmas & a blessed and peaceful New Year to all!

November 2008
Did you see any ghosts or goblins about the church? Well, if you were at church around Halloween time you would have seen many! It is a very exciting week for the children. There were treats & Halloween songs -- a great time for all!As November starts we prepare the children for Thanksgiving. It is at this time we teach the children what they should be thankful for & to share with those less fortunate. They learn songs, make placemats and prepare food for all to share & enjoy. Please take a moment to reflect on all you are thankful for.
A great "bunch" of children and Moms are attending the Mommy and Me program. Check out our bulletin boards in the education wing. Each Tuesday and Thursday we come together for an hour and half of fun and learning through play. At Jesus Time we have been learning that God made our eyes, ears, nose, mouth and hands. The theme that God Made Us flows through the day with songs, art projects, stories, and movement time. During our parent separation time the children have an opportunity to play while the Moms have been discussing the Physical, Emotional, Spiritual, Social, and Intellectual Development of a Two-Year-Old. Our Tuesday class is full, however there is one opening left in the Thursday class. If you would like more information please call the school at 520-4067.
May you all enjoy family and friends and may God bless us all as we gather this Thanksgiving.
